Here is an excerpt from Farnell Middle School eighth-grader Jakob
Klukow's story, "Spooky Alabama:"
Jeremy had just turned eight and was moving to a new house away from all of his friends. His new house was way far away in a little town called Spooky. Jeremy didn't want to leave his friends, and he certainly didn't want to live in a town that had such a scary name. Jeremy was freaking out.
It was a long ride to Spooky, Alabama. The paved roads turned to dirt roads, and then, there it was, Jeremy's new house. Jeremy thought it reminded him of a haunted house he once saw on TV.
Jeremy's family entered the house. The furniture was already set up because the moving van made it to Spooky, Alabama, before him. Jeremy went up to see his new room. Jeremy heard a voice. It sounded like it was coming from the closet. Jeremy opened his closet door really fast and jumped back. His heart was racing. But it was just a closet filled with clothes.
