WESTCHASE - Residents living in The Enclave know a barbecue among neighbors can happen anytime.

'People are really good about being spontaneous and grilling outdoors - especially during football season,' said John Jordan, who has lived in the neighborhood for about three years.

Jordan, who serves as voting member for The Enclave within the Westchase Community Association, said many young families make up his neighborhood, but there is also a blend of retirees and singles.

He described the gated neighborhood's layout like a figure 8 connected to various cul-de-sacs.

Behind the black gates of the 108-home neighborhood, people jog and walk around its paths in the morning and afternoons.

Along with annual block parties in spring and fall, neighbors organize casual pot-luck feasts.

'It definitely is a friendly neighborhood because the neighbors are outside quite a bit,' Jordan said. 'They don't sit inside their homes. They are more social.'

The neighborhood has convenient access to the pool and tennis courts of the Westchase Swim and Tennis Center on Countryway Boulevard, behind The Enclave.

Although part of the Westchase Community Association, The Enclave has its own association with a six-member board.

'It's really easy to come up and talk to us,' Jordan said. 'We are very much about supporting our neighbors.'

THE ENCLAVE
NUMBER OF HOMES: 108

BACKGROUND: The Enclave is a gated neighborhood within Westchase, a deed-restricted community of more than 3,400 homes in northwest Hillsborough County. The Enclave is off Countryway Boulevard and near the Westchase Swim and Tennis Center.

HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION INFORMATION: Along with having its own homeowners association, The Enclave is part of the Westchase Community Association, whose president is Ruben Collazo.
