WESTCHASE Halloween gourds of all shapes and sizes are on sale at Wellspring United Methodist Church, 10701 Sheldon Road.
The pumpkin patch, run by the Cub Scout Pack 46 from Westchase Elementary, is enjoying brisk sales, in spite of the warmer October temperatures.
"In the mornings we get a lot of day care kids; in the evening the families come," said Greg Chesney, of the Cub Scout's leadership committee. He said a lot of folks just come to pose for photographs.
The staff, all volunteers and comprised mostly family and friends of the pack, has been setting up shop there for eight years.
The scouts come out to turn the pumpkins once a day to prevent rotting. "They also hand out change to the customers," Chesney said.
A portion of the sale proceeds goes to the church; the rest goes to the Cub Scouts. Steve Steinfeld, Pack 46 leader, said they buy the pumpkins from an independent farmer in New Mexico.
The pumpkin patch is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
