CITRUS PARK - For design shop owner Robert Morris, bringing foot traffic to the seven-month-old location has been a challenge.

The problem: how to attract Tampa women with disposable income.

The solution: throw some parties.
Robert Morris Interiors, 12950 Race Track Road, will host a 'Black and White Party in the Hamptons' at 6 p.m. Thursday. The party is the third in the monthly series.

'There's not much else to do out here, so it's been very popular,' Morris said.

Admission to the party is free. All partygoers dressed in black and white will receive a 10-percent discount on store items.

'We'll also have giveaways, refreshments, plus a chance for stores to show their wares,' Morris said.

Other Hampton Lakes Plaza businesses in attendance will include The Learning Express, Paparazzi Boutique, Tan Utopia, Hershey's Ice Cream store and Aveda Salon and Spa.

At 9 p.m. the party moves to Z's Clubhouse next door.

Attendees are asked to bring unworn clothing for donation to the Spring of Tampa Bay, a 30-year-old charity devoted to fighting domestic violence against women and children.

Morris said he chose a black and white theme because it represents the colors of his business logo. The combination concept and retail store offers a variety of home-furnishing services.

A South Tampa developer, he said he uses the store as a testing ground for future interior designs.

'I coined this area the Hamptons to distinguish us from Westchase,' Morris said. 'We need folks from South Tampa to come to these.' He said the most recent in-store event attracted about 200 people.
