LUTZ - Kevin Locke's program, "The Hoop of Life," incorporates traditional Lakota dance, song, storytelling and flute to bring a message of peace and stewardship to children and adults alike.
Locke performed recently with his nephew, Doug Goodfeather, at Learning Gate Community School, 16215 Hanna Road.
Speaking and singing in many different languages, including numerous American Indian dialects and even sign language, Locke and Goodfeather spoke to the students about the connectedness of all living things, and the importance of working together to improve our lives and the world around us.
In one demonstration, Locke pointed out the symbolism of the many-hued hoops, which together formed a strong chain, and then a globe.
