TAMPA - Families wishing to select new schools for their children may submit applications until Thursday.
Changes would take effect in the 2008-09 school year.
Hillsborough County's school-choice program allows students to apply to attend a magnet school, career and technical program or another public school with available space. Students do not need to re-apply to remain at their current school.
Students entering kindergarten through 11th grade may apply for school choice, although magnet programs do not include kindergartners. Transportation is provided for select schools.
The school district mailed guides last month with information, new programs and applications. Applications also are available at www.sdhc .k12.fl.us/choice/.
Call the choice information line at (813) 272-4692 with questions.
A second application period is March 3-14.
The district also will have information about school choice available at a public meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Upper Tampa Bay Regional Library, 11211 Countryway Blvd.
