TOWN 'N COUNTRY - Two Pony League baseball teams from the Shimberg Complex were crowned state champions during Pony League competition recently in Royal Palm Beach and are next shooting for World Series play.
The Mustang 9 All Stars, for players league-age 9, went undefeated in the state tournament and are busy raising funds for a trip to the Pony League World Series for that age group in Richland Hills, Texas, just outside Dallas/Fort Worth. The team will leave for that tournament on Friday.
The Mustang A team, for players league-ages 9 and 10, was also undefeated in the state tournament and will compete in the South Region Championships on Saturday, at the Forest Hills Pony Baseball facility on Orange Grove Drive in Tampa. It is the last of the qualifying rounds for the Pony League World Series for that age group, which will be held starting Aug. 1 in Irvine, Texas.
The teams not only have players from Town 'N Country but also draw from Countryway, Westchase and Lutz.
