It's summertime - I know, officially it begins in three days - and your 36-week fall-winter-spring bowling league concluded a couple of weeks ago.
And since you're not enrolled in any 12-week or so summer kegling endeavor, it's going to be a long time until late August when it all cranks up again.
For the high-averaging local bowler, three months can be an eternity when it comes to maintaining that ego-sustaining 220-plus status.
Well, here's where someone or some company or some caring individual can make a difference.
Let's resurrect the city match plays.
The city match plays - men, women and mixed - were a Tampa institution for years and were a big focus of summertime bowling.
Do I hear any voices out there?
TAMPA'S HELTON LEADS: Tampa's Nadia Helton is in first place in two events after five weekends of the USBC Florida State Women's Bowling Tournament in Daytona Beach.
Helton, competing in Division 3 (158-175 average) leads in singles with 672 and in all-events with 1,939.
Tampa's Kathy Altenburg is second in Division 3 singles with 641, while Tampa's Jennifer Crosby is second in Division 3 all-events with 1,800.
Cathy Harn and Carol Becker of Tampa are currently third in Division 5 (279-under average) doubles with 975.
SWEEPER AT MIDTOWN: It's sweeper time at Pin Chasers Midtown with the inaugural Sardegna's Scratch Singles Sweeper on July 5.
Entry fee is $29 (cash only) and competitors will be shooting on the PBA oil patterns. The first sweeper, scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., will be conducted on the Cheetah pattern.
DISNEY GOES BOWLING: The USBC will hold 13 events - seven Open Championships and six Women's Championships - from 2011 through 2029 in a privately funded bowling center on land being made available at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex.
Each tournament will run for 20 weeks. Combined, the tournaments are expected to generate nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars in economic import for the community.
Osceola County beat out Wichita, Kan.; Tulsa, Okla.; Corpus Christi, Tex.; and Reno, Nev., for the 2011 USBC Open Championships.
