KEYSTONE - The Keystone Civic Association has lost its fight against a roof on the Anytime Fitness building, 17765 Gunn Highway.
County officials had ruled the roof did not have to comply with the community's design standards because it was approved before the standards took effect.
The civic club challenged that ruling, contending that an attorney for the project had agreed at a public appearance before the Hillsborough County Commission to adhere to the standards.
Land Use Hearing Officer Harold Youmans ruled on Oct. 31 that the standards do not apply. He said the development was approved on Dec. 12, 2000, and the standards took effect Aug. 1, 2002.
Youmans also determined the building's roof complies with conditions imposed when its plans were approved.
