WESTCHASE - The manager for Westchase Town Center told community leaders the company will be replacing trees that were damaged by poor landscaping.
Rachel Slater, the newly appointed property manager for Real Property Specialists, told Westchase Community Development District supervisors damaged trees along Linebaugh Avenue will be replaced.
The company is addressing a county penalty for incorrect pruning of pine and oak trees near the town center. Slater said she personally examined every tree with a county arborist and Doug Mays, field supervisor for Westchase.
Slater said not all of the trees are completely damaged and will come back and recommended those trees stay in place. She said replacement trees wouldn't be as mature and would take decades to reach that size.
She promised regardless of whether sick trees stayed or not, the same number of replacement trees be planted somewhere on the property.
But CDD supervisors noted that fewer trees along Linebaugh would not camouflage the buildings and reduce noise as originally intended.
The CDD passed a motion directing Mays and CDD Supervisor Ernie Sylvester to work with Slater to develop a replanting plan that will come before the board again in December.
