WATERCHASE - Dressed in colorful attire, mothers and daughters came together recently to have tea and help the Hope Children's Home.
The Waterchase community hosted a mother-daughter tea March 22 to raise money for the home, which helps neglected, abused and abandoned children by providing them a home and education.
The Waterchase activities committee has hosted the tea for three years. In the past, the event raised money for a community playground and the Kids Wish Network.
"We really appreciate any help," said Jason Roberts, outreach coordinator for Hope Children's Home. "I am sure they feel as satisfied by helping."
Denise Fulk, one the event's coordinators, said that even though the economy is tough, the community was still willing to help. Within three hours the tea party was sold out. A total of 150 tickets were sold.
After the tea party, Fulk informed the rest of the Waterchase community that donations for the home are still being accepted. A total amount donated was not available. Other than monetary donations, clothing and furniture is accepted.
The event included vendors, food treats, games and crafts. It also included a surprise performance by the Philippine Cultural Dance Troupe .
"The event was quite awesome," Roberts said. "Everyone had a good time. It was very well put together."
