TAMPA - After six weeks of studying and working on a performance loosely based on "In the Heights," students from Blake and Leto high schools are ready to put on a show.
At 6 p.m. today, 26 students from Blake and 25 students from Leto will perform at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center's Jaeb Theatre, 1010 N. MacInnes Place.
The schools were selected to participate in the Broadway Education Project, which is part of the Community Partnership Program with Patel Conservatory and the performing arts center. Through the project, students focus on a current Broadway show and create performances and exhibits based on it.
Blake students will display a scenic exhibit that focuses on family, culture and the community. The Leto students have focused on spoken word pieces, said Tina James, education program manager at Patel Conservatory.
There is no charge to attend the performances or view the exhibit.
Community producer Jessica Balanza can be reached at (727) 451-2342.
