TOWN 'N COUNTRY - Town 'N Country celebrated its 50th anniversary Sept. 19 with a party for hundreds at Jackson Springs Park.
A live band, face-painting and balloon hats, and plenty of burgers and snow cones, entertained kids of all ages.
But what drew the greatest interest was a room filled with memorabilia. Advertisements for "Florida's cool new town" that ran in national magazines like Life, along with newspaper articles and photo displays recounted the history of a community that sold for $5 an acre in the 1930s.
The celebration was more than a year in the making by volunteers headed up by residents Rob and Fran Gamester.
