Show leadership I was very excited to read that Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson released her agency's long-awaited Endangerment Finding, officially declaring global warming pollution a threat to pubic health. It places the EPA in a position to regulate greenhouse gas emissions and gives President Obama the ammunition he needs to promise real emissions reductions while he is at the U.N. climate negotiations in Copenhagen. ...more

It's said that charity begins at home. On Thanksgiving Day, a number of businesses partnered with scores of volunteers to feed almost 500 people during the second annual South Shore Big Give at Beanie's Family Sports Grill in Ruskin. Besides Beanie's, other businesses that participated in one capacity or another were South Bay Hospital, the South Shore Gallery, Ruskin Chamber of Commerce, Weichert Realtors - Southshore, Zipperer's Funeral Home & Crematory and the SouthShore Community Service Center.
