More than 1,500 middle school students in northwestern Hillsborough County could get moved to different schools under a series of proposed boundary changes. Parents got a first look at the plans at a community meeting Wednesday night, and many were angry about what they saw. The school district needs to reassign some students to fill a new middle school opening in August in Citrus Park, and officials also want to reduce crowding at other schools. The plans, which are not final, would involve transferring 1,024 students from Davidsen and Walker middle schools into the new Smith Middle. Davidsen, then, could accept students from crowded Farnell, near Westchase, and Walker could absorb some from Martinez in Lutz. ...more
